Although boat builders were mainly building in aluminium, Mal Hart started researching composite construction due to its better performance in strength, stiffness and reduced weight. We employed a number of key composite boat builders and our boats started winning races and breaking records.
Hart Marine was one of Australia’s leading composite construction boat builders and building race boats from the world’s leading design companies. Hart Marine was successfully completing projects of the most technologically advanced carbon composite racing yachts for owners in Australia and overseas.
Hart Marine’s boats won many of the Southern Hemisphere Ocean races, notably Skandia Wild Thing achieved Line Honours in the 2003 Rolex Sydney-Hobart Race. As well as building world class craft we were involved in the Asian industry teaching and mentoring many boat companies in composite construction.
Due to our skills, expertise and ability to access the latest construction methods and technology, we were producing a wide range of products such as carbon car prototypes and carbon fibre cycling wheels. Aware of Hart Marine's reputation for building highly engineered vessels within time and on budget, the Port Phillip Sea Pilots commissioned us to build an ORC 14.3mt and an ORC 18.1mt designed by Pantocarene. Launched late June 2010 they are the latest addition to our portfolio of world class built vessels.
